Native Area Production Supervisor

Department: Maintenance Production
Location: Lake Bluff, IL

POSITION SUMMARY:
This individual provides strategic leadership to the Native Areas team, ensuring they consistently meet production targets. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the principles of ecological restoration, native species, pollinator gardens, and bluff restoration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create proposals, conduct client presentations and meetings.
Inform clients of property issues and involve them in decision-making.
Monitor jobs budgeted hours and adjust crew activities to meet contract needs.
Select plant material and create seed mixes accordingly.
Train crew members on processes, techniques, equipment operation, and pest identification.
Supervise crew members, leaders, and site supervisors.
Conduct weekly safety and training meetings.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Experience with invasive species removal, herbicides and pesticides applications.
Familiarity with ecological restoration, native species, pollinator gardens, and bluff restorations.
Chainsaw experience (Certification such as Feller I, II, or III or Sawyer A, B, or C would be preferential).
Prescribed burn experience (Certification such as S-190/S-130 and Prescribed Burn Manager would be preferential).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Effective leadership and direction abilities.
Adaptability to changing work volumes.
Valid state Driver’s License and Pesticide License.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The role involves intermittent physical activities like standing, reaching, and sitting, occasional lifting, bending, and walking. Work is outdoors in various weather conditions, including heavy snow and ice. Exposure to chemicals, solvents, and fumes may occur, necessitating protective equipment. Driving to different job locations is required. Some evening and weekend work may be necessary based on client needs and deadlines.
